Lulusar Lake winds along the Babusar Pass road for about 3 km. The mountains around the lake are devoid of trees as the lake is above the tree line. The extreme height of the mountains keeps them covered in snow the year long, but the lake is located in a special zone where water can flow in some months of the year.
The Kunhar River falls in to the Lulusar Lake at its northern end and re-emerges at the southern end and it flows southwest through the entire length of Kaghan Valley passing Besal, Jalkhand, Barrwai, Batakundi, Naran, Kaghan, Jared, Paras, Kiwai, Balakot and Garhi Habibullah until its confluence with the Jhelum River.
The lake is located in the National Park called Lulusar Dudipatsar National Park and some animals and birds are common to find like Black Bear, Lynx, Himalayan Ibex, Hawks, Falcon, Griffen Vultures of Himalaya, Himalayan Snow Cock and the Himalayan Monal. However, if the season is right, migratory animals and birds can also been seen nesting in some places.
However, you just have to wait until their season of migration in order to be able to see these animals and birds. The lake is in a beautiful and pristine setting but the Pakistani tourists keep littering and spoiling its pristine beauty through their various unethical and immoral acts towards nature. This is top tourist attraction place in Naran valley after Babusar Pass and Saiful Muluk lake in Naran valley.
